realOne的公司real打算把helix採用GPL的方式釋出，並且與novell、red hat都有合作計劃，以後在novell與red hat的Linux套件上的預設媒體播放器很有可能會是基於helix的播放器。

sun 也打算open source其桌面環境的源碼。
